Over the past nine years Batford Memorial Hall has been at the centre of delivering fun and smiles with what was a full Christmas programme, for all ages from 6 months to 99 years.

The Batford Memorial Hall committee are determined that Covid 19 won’t ruin Christmas in Batford this year; and are on a mission to remind all our local residents that it’s ok to still believe in Christmas and despite the restrictions spread a little hope and happiness to all.

A Batford Christmas Tale is a series of activities and events that we, the Memorial Hall are putting in place for both young and old to enjoy and has taken a life of it's own, even having it's own Facebook page which we hope will make it easy, and fun to keep up date, and join in with our Christmas activities.

1st December and Every Day Until Christmas Day

The festive programme kicks off on December 1st  with online, social media: recipes, crafts, riddles and Christmas facts to name but a few so make sure that you visit the Facebook page every day.

Wednesday 2nd  December - Thursday 23rd December

Our Christmas Tree will be placed  outside at the front of the Memorial Hall, this year instead of inside and will be full of lights.

The tree is a symbol that despite the pandemic Christmas is still a magical time of year for all in Batford.

We want to encourage you all young and old to make your own decorations and at a time of your choosing come along and hang them on the tree yourselves.

We will also be starting a ‘selfie with the tree’ incentive and any resident who takes part will be entered into a free prize draw with the winner being drawn at random and a Christmas Present delivered to the winner on Christmas Eve.

Wednesday 9th December - Saturday 12th December

Christmas Pensioners Party... Unfortunately No, but Christmas Party Hampers...Yes. We feel that as we can’t have our retired residents of Batford for dinner and a party this year we will try and bring a dinner and a smile to them.

Our party has been described by a few as the event they look forward to most but as we simply can’t ‘put it on’ we know the importance of making people feel included and simply not forgotten and are determined to deliver a hamper to every person who would normally attend the event.

Wednesday 16th December

The Batford Santa Drive will take place on Wednesday 16th December in the early evening where the main man himself will travel through the streets of Batford on his sleigh spreading the Christmas spirit with festive music playing as a group of willing young people will accompany him on his journey singing a range of Christmas carols and Christmas songs.

We hope you will all join us on your doorsteps to give him and his helpers a wave as he passes through your road.

Tuesday 22nd  December

santa live logo.jpg

Santa's Grotto Live will give children the chance to see the man that makes everybody smile in a Covid 19 world completely free of charge.

Santa will be live in living rooms across Batford with stories of his preparations for delivering the presents and the general magic of Christmas this year.  The broadcast will be live on Facebook and viewers will have the opportunity to message Santa whilst he is online but we will also give residents the opportunity before hand to either email or post letters and messages that they would like Santa to read out live.

With the difficulties of restrictions of visiting Santa this year and with many businesses charging what we can only describe as expensive amounts of money to have a video call with Santa we want to ensure that every child in Batford doesn’t miss out on their Christmas childhood dreams due to a pandemic so our Santa is Free of Charge for all.
